FELIPE GUIMARAES
Felipe Guimarães was born March 22, 1991 in Anapolis, Brizal. After a childhood in karting, Guimarães transitioned to the extremely competitive Formula Three Sudamericana series at the age of 16 and finished 4th in points with two victories.
His Firestone Indy Lights debut was at Watkins Glen International in July 2009, running a car co-sponsored by Bryan Herta AutoSports and SpeedWorks Racing. In his three races that season, he finished 3rd, 1st and 2nd.
In 2008 he competed in Euroseries 3000 where he finished 9th in points. He then competed in 11 rounds of the 2008-09 A1 Grand Prix season for A1 Team Brazil where his best finish was second place in the feature race at Kyalami.
DANIEL HERRINGTON
Daniel’s formal introduction to road racing began at the Justin Bell Racing School in Moroso, FL at age 16. In August 2003, Daniel started in his first race at Virginia International Raceway in the Spec E-30 group in NASA. He competed in the remainder of the NASA Spec E30 series becoming the SO class champion in his rookie year.
Daniel Harrington had five starts with SpeedWorks Racing in 2007, winning one pole (Watkings Glen), one Top 5 finish and three Top 10 finishes.
Racing in the 2006 Formula Mazda season, Daniel finished 2nd in his first professional open-wheel series. He backed those results up with a 1st, 7th (electrical problems) and 2nd and was in firm command of the championship. Unfortunately the next race saw a reversal of fortune for Daniel where after starting on pole, he was hit on the first lap, destroying his car and hurting Daniel’s chances at the championship. Daniel worked hard to rehab his injured leg and get back in the car for the next race where he ran as high as 3rd and eventually finished 8th.
In 2005, Daniel participated in the Formula BMW, qualifying 3rd at Laguna Seca, 2nd and 3rd in Montreal, 3rd in Indy and then 4th at Road Atlanta. In October of ‘05, Daniel raced in the Grand Am Cup with Compass 360 Racing and after starting 20th in class, drove to the front in the rain, to finish first.
Daniel participated in the Skip Barber Eastern Regional Series in ‘04 and won at Mid-Ohio and Watkins Glen finished winning the Expert Series championship.
JAY HOWARD
Jay was born February 16, 1981, in Basildon, UK. Jay began racing go-karts at age seven and won 21 consecutive races in the junior karting division.
Jay made three Indy Pro Series starts for SpeedWorks Racing in 2007 finishing 10th at Homestead, 5th at St. Petersburg in the first race, but crashing in the second race while challenging for the lead.
Jay won three British karting titles, the 1999 Inter-Continental A British Open Championship, the 1997 ICA British Open Championship and the British Championship. In ‘03, Jay won the British Formula Ford Zetec Championship on the strength of four victories and seven pole positions. He also claimed the United Kingdom Formula Renault 2000 Winter Series championship and earned the BRDC Rising Star honors. In ’04, Jay won his U.S. Formula Ford Zetec debut at Infineon Raceway. In ‘05 Jay continued his winning ways by winning the U.S. Formula Ford Zetec Championship and Rookie of the Year honors. Jay set a series record with nine wins along with six pole positions and established another series record with six consecutive victories. In ’06, Jay moved up the Indy Pro Series where he captured two wins on his way to the 2006 championship in his rookie season. Jay also won five pole position and had five podium finishes. Jay has been signed to drive the second car for Roth Racing in the IndyCar Series for 2008.
ADAM ANDRETTI
Adam is the younger brother of veteran NASCAR racer John Andretti, nephew of Indianapolis 500 winner Mario Andretti, first cousin to IndyCar champion Michael Andretti and former driver, Jeff Andretti. He is also the first cousin once removed to IndyCar driver Marco Andretti. His father, Aldo Andretti, retired from driving a race car after he nearly died in an accident.
Andretti made his Indy Pro Series debut at Chicagoland Speedway on September 9, 2007 with SpeedWorks Racing. His race ended when his car tangled with IndyCar veteran Jimmy Kite.
Adam's racing career started in 1994 at the age of 15 with the help of his brother John, who helped Adam obtain a ride in the new half-scale Mini Cup Stock Car series, driving for Terry Lingner of Lingner Group Productions at the Velodrome in Indianapolis. He showed promise by winning four races in 1995 and finishing fourth in the series championship. After his stint in the Mini Stocks, Andretti raced go-karts. His brother Mark bought him a 125cc shifter kart and they raced for the next two years in the SKUSA series. In 1998, he finished second at the Formula C World Karting Championship held in Charlotte, North Carolina. He also ran in the 24 Hours of Daytona, an event sponsored by the Grand American Road Racing Association. Adam is also a graduate of the Skip Barber Racing School.
In 2000, Andretti drove in the Formula 3 series for the Duesenberg Brothers Racing Team. He won a race and finished third in the series points championship. In the 2001-02 season, Adam drove in NASCAR's Featherlite Southwest Series. In 2003, Adam drove a Corvette at the Sebring Raceway in the SPEED World Challenge Series. In ‘04 he drove in the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.
