Driving the SpeedWorks Racing / Team Bryan Herta Autosport prepared Dallara/Firestone machine, Guimarães qualified third, but quickly moved up to second passing 2nd place qualifer, Ana Beatriz at the start of the race. Guimaraes lengthed his lead over the rest of the field, but didn’t have enough to catch J.R. Hildebrand, who went on to wint the race.

On the start, Guimaraes made a strong move around Ana Beatriz for second place and never looked back. Unfortunately he did not have enough to challenge hometown driver, J.R. Hildebrand for the lead. Guimaraes said “I’m very happy with today’s result. The team gave me a good car and I took advantage as much as I could. We just didn’t quite have enough for the Hildebrand who was racing on his home course here at Infineon.”
