November 24, 2008, Indianapolis - SpeedWorks Racing
will resume testing in January of next year. The league is changing the
engine design, so all testing is stopped from November twenty fifth of
this year until January fourteenth of next year. Team manager Peter
Parrott said "We are working on dates beginning after January
fourteenth of next year to test potential drivers in the Firestone Indy
Light Series at Homestead Speedway in Homestead Florida. We will be
testing on both the road course at the facility and on the oval".
Parrott also went on tho say, "B.K. Wilson, who handles our marketing,
has been in contact with several young drivers who are interested in
stepping up to the Indy Lights program and we are anxious to give these
young drivers the opportunity to test with us at Homestead. We are
seeking drivers to race our two cars for the 2009 season".
The league is requiring rookies drivers to have at least 300 miles
of oval testing this year before being reviewed for their IRL license.
After the 300 miles of oval experience, all rookie drivers will be
looked at by league observers while they test together on a track to
yet be determined. Parrott said "chances are they will be observed
sometime before the leagues "open test" on February 23rd at Homestead
Speedway. Drivers who have an interest in testing with SpeedWorks
Racing should contact Wilson, by email: bkw@speedworksracing.com as
soon as possible. |
